Jill is an artist, illustrator, and sometimes author living in Ontario, Canada. Having completed advanced degrees in art history and medieval studies, Jill still enjoys the process of research, analysis, and teaching, and incorporates these skills into her work. Some of the common themes that Jill works with include nature and science, childhood, exploring and mysteries, and feelings of comfort.

Although most of Jill’s professional work is digital, she enjoys working with and combining various traditional fine art and craft materials such as watercolour and gouache, oils, embroidery, needle felting, egg tempera and silverpoint, and indulges these interests when creating work for special exhibitions and shows.

In the past several years, Jill has become interested in the storytelling possibilities of animation and motion work. She received a graduate certificate in 3D Animation and Character Design and has also been enjoying teaching herself 2D and stop motion animation.

Jill’s current projects include putting the finishing touches on both a picture book and a middle-grade novel, and exploring the concept of stillness in a series of animated shorts. She is sometimes available for freelance work and is always open to interesting and challenging collaborations.

When not at her desk, Jill enjoys hanging out with her family (3 kids, 2 dogs, and 1 husband), reading, knitting, baking, and gardening. She tries to make it to the woods as much as possible.
